Background information

The Aztecs were one of the great civilizations of pre-Columbian America, flourishing in central Mexico between the 14th and early 16th centuries. Renowned for their advanced society, monumental temples, astronomy, warfare, and complex religious beliefs, the Aztecs created a rich cultural legacy centered around powerful gods and cosmic symbolism. Their mythology and architecture continue to fascinate historians, archaeologists, and collectors around the world.

Quetzalcoatl, whose name means “Feathered Serpent,” was one of the most important deities in Aztec mythology and was associated with wisdom, creation, wind, knowledge, and civilization. Often depicted as a serpent adorned with vibrant feathers, Quetzalcoatl symbolized the connection between earth and sky. Revered across multiple Mesoamerican cultures long before the Aztecs, he became a central figure in mythology, religion, and ceremonial traditions throughout ancient Mexico.
