The reverse showcases a stunning colorized depiction of the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, viewed from the central garden axis with the reflecting pool leading toward the monument. The soft colors of sunrise illuminate the white marble structure and its four elegant minarets, while the reflection in the water enhances the sense of harmony and symmetry that makes the Taj Mahal one of the world’s most admired architectural masterpieces. Surrounding the central scene are finely engraved travel-themed icons symbolizing exploration and global discovery, together with the inscription “Journey of a Lifetime.”
The obverse side of the coin depicts the unique coat of arms for Cameroon. Surrounding the coat of arms there are various elements related to travelling. The coat of arms has the inscriptions: “REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN” (country of issue), “2026” (the year of issue) and “1000 FRANCS CFA” (the face value).
Background information
The Taj Mahal is one of the most famous architectural monuments in the world and stands in the city of Agra, India. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died during childbirth. Construction took more than twenty years and involved thousands of craftsmen, architects, and artisans from across the Mughal Empire and beyond.
